Why we started

The call comes at nine at night.

It is your grandson. There has been an accident, he needs money tonight, and he is begging you not to tell his parents.

It is his voice. The pauses. The way he says your name.

He is not on the phone. Thirty seconds of a video he posted two years ago was enough to build it.

Almost every one of these scams is stopped by the same thing: a few seconds of doubt before you act. That is our whole job. Put something between a very good fake and the moment you reach for your bank card.

    It looks at what is running on your computer right now. You get a short report where every line is a plain sentence: what it is, and whether you should worry.

Questions

The honest answers.

Is it really free?

Yes. The extension is free to install today, and there is nothing to buy yet even if you wanted to. It is an early build: good at images, not yet checking text, video, or audio, and it will miss things. The plan is to charge later for the family layer, monitoring and alerts across five devices, and never for the extension itself.

How do you know what's fake?

A growing number of AI tools stamp their own output with a signature, and the extension reads it instead of guessing. Where there is no stamp, we look at the things scammers cannot easily hide, like where a link really goes. When we are not sure, the flag says so. We will not pretend to a certainty we do not have.

Isn't this just antivirus?

Antivirus recognizes known bad files. The thing we worry about is not a file, it is behavior. Software that reads your screen, moves your mouse, and signs into your accounts looks exactly like a person using the computer, which is why it walks straight past the tools you already have.

Do you read my files, photos or messages?

The design goal is no. The scan looks at what programs are running and what they are connected to, not the contents of your documents. When we publish exactly what gets checked and what leaves your machine, waitlist members see it first.

Mac or Windows?

Windows first, Mac after. The browser extension is planned for Chrome and Edge at launch.

Is there a phone app?

Not yet. It is third on the list, after the browser extension and the computer scan, and we want to be straight about why. Phones deliberately stop any app from seeing what other apps are doing, so the scan that makes this useful on a computer is not something we can simply move to a phone. When the phone app comes, it will work by knowing your family's real numbers and telling you when a call is not from one of them.

Can you really tell if a voice is fake?

Not reliably, and anyone who tells you they can is selling something. The thing that genuinely stops these calls is hanging up and dialing the number you already have saved, and that is what we intend to automate.

Who is behind this?

A small independent team in Utah. Not a private equity rollup of three antivirus brands you have already heard of.
